Description

A delicious and flavorful Indian appetizer featuring marinated paneer cubes grilled to perfection, and served with zesty mint chutney.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g paneer (cottage cheese), cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup thick yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin powder
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large bell pepper, cut into chunks
  • 1 large onion, cut into chunks
  • Wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the thick yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, lemon juice, vegetable oil, and salt. Mix well to create a marinade.
  2. Add the paneer cubes to the marinade and gently toss to coat them evenly. Allow the paneer to marinate for at least 30 minutes. Longer marination, up to 4 hours, will impart more flavor.
  3. While the paneer is marinating, soak the wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes to prevent them from burning on the grill.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  5. Thread the marinated paneer cubes, bell pepper chunks, and onion chunks alternately onto the soaked wooden skewers.
  6. Brush the skewered paneer and vegetables with a little vegetable oil to prevent sticking on the grill.
  7. Place the skewers on the preheated grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until you see grill marks and the paneer is slightly charred.
  8. Once the paneer tikka is cooked, remove it from the grill and serve hot with mint chutney and lemon wedges.

Enjoy your homemade paneer tikka, a popular Indian appetizer that’s rich in flavor and spices!
