Description
A delicious and flavorful Indian appetizer featuring marinated paneer cubes grilled to perfection, and served with zesty mint chutney.
Ingredients
Scale
- 500g paneer (cottage cheese), cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 cup thick yogurt
- 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
- 2 tablespoons red chili powder
- 1 tablespoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon cumin powder
- 1 tablespoon coriander powder
- 1 tablespoon garam masala
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 large bell pepper, cut into chunks
- 1 large onion, cut into chunks
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the thick yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, lemon juice, vegetable oil, and salt. Mix well to create a marinade.
- Add the paneer cubes to the marinade and gently toss to coat them evenly. Allow the paneer to marinate for at least 30 minutes. Longer marination, up to 4 hours, will impart more flavor.
- While the paneer is marinating, soak the wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes to prevent them from burning on the grill.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated paneer cubes, bell pepper chunks, and onion chunks alternately onto the soaked wooden skewers.
- Brush the skewered paneer and vegetables with a little vegetable oil to prevent sticking on the grill.
- Place the skewers on the preheated grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until you see grill marks and the paneer is slightly charred.
- Once the paneer tikka is cooked, remove it from the grill and serve hot with mint chutney and lemon wedges.
Enjoy your homemade paneer tikka, a popular Indian appetizer that’s rich in flavor and spices!
